Types of Procedures
This writer’s guide is intended to support writing operating procedures for critical and non-critical tasks. If not done correctly, significant and often unforeseen risks exist in these tasks.
Regulations/standards indicate that operating procedures must be developed and made available for each type of operation (Peres et al., 2016).
For each operation, the environment, operator’s stress level, operator’s training for the procedure, and frequency of the task is likely different (Peres, 2018).
- These can impact workers’ performance, so when possible, they should be identified before writing the procedure.
