Prerequisites

Prerequisites are included in procedures when the task (CCPS, 1996):

• Requires actions beforehand
• Requires items that are not mentioned in current procedure

Common practice is for prerequisites to be listed in a written procedure prior to the procedure steps, with checkboxes added to them.

Support

Workers comply with prerequisites more frequently when check-off is required (Scholtz and Maher, 2014).
