Environmental/Other Factors
For each operation, the environment, operator’s stress level, operator’s training for the procedure, and frequency of the task is likely different (Peres, 2018).
- These can impact workers’ performance, and thus, when possible, they should be identified before the procedure is written.
The environment in which workers will conduct the task for which the procedure is written must be taken into consideration in drafting the procedure.
Environmental factors can include whether the worker will be indoors or outdoors when performing the task.
If the worker is outdoors, consideration should be given to possible weather conditions such as rain and snow that may affect the worker’s ability to perform the task.
Other factors such as the location of the facility and general climate of the area should be considered in drafting the procedure.
